Addiction Medicine Fellowship at Southern Hills Hospital, NV

“We have an opportunity to be a leader in this area and to show other hospitals what we’re implementing and how they can implement similar programs as well,” said Dr. Christopher Voscopoulos.

Dr. Voscopoulos is heading the new addiction medicine fellowship.

It’s the state’s first program designed to train physicians on addiction and how to medically treat the addicted.

“It’s a huge relief for someone to sit down with a medical specialist to hear that this is just a disease. It takes a burden off, and it helps families as well. Maybe that initial conversation, organic life of its own.” said Dr. Voscopoulos.

Southern Hills’ new program is scheduled to start in June, a move that could forever change how the opioid epidemic is fought here at home.
